A well present George III period longcase clock made by highly regarded maker, Jonas Barber of Winster. Brass  dial with circular date aperture and gilt spandrels to the corners. Superb oak and mahogany cross banded case with turned columns repeated to the moulded cornice hood. Numbered 1074 to the movement, c.1777. 30 hour movement striking on a bell to the hour.

Jonas Barber clocks are very sought after. Each one being numbered to the movement with characteristic curl to the number 5 on the dial. Two generations working from 1710-1802. A list of known clocks is in B.W.Cave-Browne-Cave's book. Very few clock makers had a numbering system.

The clock is in excellent working and timekeeping order, having undergone a full service and overhaul by a member of the British Watch & Clockmakers Guild in 2019.
