WWII Flying boots. Size 7. War Department MoD number 10148 stamped on leather tongue. Sheepskin interior, suede outside. The photo is a bit deceptive - the boots are BROWN - not black. Believe to be 1940 pattern or earlier. Looks like have been re-heeled at some time. Sole marked "ITSHIDE" Petersfield Hants. Some minor wear to sole, obviously used - normal wear & tear. All stitching in good condition. Suede exterior in surprisingly good condition with a few superficial imperfections/stains from normal use. Interior sheepskin/wool is slightly yellowed/browned with age. Inside one boot sheepskin has reddy brown stain about an inch in diameter. Zips work fine.
History: These were handed to me by my Grandad who served in Royal Navy from 1929 - 1954. Story I recall is that he obtained them from a Swordfish pilot, so these could actually be Fleet Air Arm boots. Have been in my loft since he departed 40 years ago.
