This one measures 8.5" tall x 6" wide from handle to handle with a 3.25" wide in diameter mouth. It weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces and is stamped with Won Lee's classic orange crest on the underside that reads "WL 1895." It is hand numbered in red paint "125". The hand painted illustration on one side of the pot shows an elaborate crest with a feathered armored mask resting above the image of a hand touching a cross with a lion reaching up towards it. The edges of the crest show depictions of four different flags (with trumpets, a winged lion and an owl), two cannons, swords, hatchets, prickly berries, greenery and other, while the opposing side of the vase is hand painted with a dragonfly-like bug that has pink wings, and variety of flowers, in blue, purple and pink, most prominently featuring the large fluffy pink beach rose known to many as the "Rosa Ragusa." And the very plump, sensuous flower buds on each handle are so generous in size, well pronounced and robust that they feel as though you could pluck them right from the stem! They are either rose buds, magnolia buds or lotus buds (they are probably designed to relate to the beach roses that appear illustrated on the barrel of the vessel, but you can use your imagination here). One has a very strange top of little round balls on it which we've never seen before, and there is only one tiny open flower resting beneath the large formed buds on the other side. The imagery on this one seems to tell the story of beauty and valor, but as with any artistic rendering, to each viewer, it's open to interpretation ~ So fill this lovely vase with flowers, imagine, dream, and enjoy it's beauty! • Condition: Absolutely gorgeous with large applied, hand sculpted flower buds (uncertain if these are rose buds, lotus buds or magnolia buds). Crazing indicative of Wong Lee WL 1895 pieces. On the underside of the tiny pink flower that rests under two giant rosebuds this is a very small chip, which is at first hard to discern whether of not it is an intentional divot in the flower petal, or a chip, but we feel it s a chip, thus are obligated to mention it - however barely noticeable, and certainly not a focal point.
