COLLECTORLINKS...ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT
FOR WHAT OTHERS ARE LOOKING FOR
Antique and vintage items make nicer than new gifts THE ITEM Shelley fine bone china has a Worldwide reputation for quality and remains very collectable and this is a lovely Mid-20th Century example of why it's so popular, particularly when the theme is floral. This is the very pretty 'Yellow Phlox' pattern applied to the elegant shape of the Cambridge shape tea or coffee cup and matching saucer and plate. Its Art Deco infuenced decoration is offset by stylish gilding on the rims of each piece. The Cambridge shape was used for Bestware, Ideal China/Canadian Tea Wares between 1937-1954 and the rinted back stamp suggests 1940 onwards which is why we have described the period of manufacture as Mid 20th Century (i.e. c1940s/50s). Please note : This is just one of several Shelley trios and duos we are currently listing, including some in the much sought after Queen Anne shape. CONDITION Remarkably good for such a delicate trio some 70+ years old. There are no chips, cracks or discolouration (see images) PRICING Whenever possible our asking prices are based on either our knowledge of the genre or on what similar pieces have actually been sold for on the international market, rather than what some sellers are asking, which are usually two very different things! We do our best not to be greedy, but neither do we give things away. We hope our pricing is always fair and thoughtful and represents good value. You will normally find that our prices sit somewhere in the middle between auction and professional dealer prices and we are always willing to consider fair and realistic offers. SHIPPING We have a 100pc success rate for over a decade of successfully shipping fragile glassware and ceramics across the UK and the wider World. We only charge what the Post Office and couriers charge us. International shipping? Since Covid, we have started to use eBay's Global Shipping Programme for packages over 2kg because it has proved to be competitive and reliable. However, we expect this item to be light enough for us to use the Royal Mail's airmail service. The likely shipping charge quoted is the maximum amount that it will cost in Europe, North America and Australia and may be less. Please ask us about this before buying.
