Item:176234721808HUGE Late 1920s Swiss Deco Shelf Mantle Clock Henry Birks & Sons, Ltd. Showroom. PREMIER LATE '20s ART DECO SWISS OVERSIZE STRUT CLOCK HENRY BIRKS JEWELERS (Montreal / Toronto) SHOWROOM If you're seeking "best of class" to complement a Deco modernist interior, look no further! The clock presents handsomely and is in fine operating order - meticulously restored to optimal mechanical condition. This imposing timepiece is from my personal collection of clocks curated since 1972. Commencing with apprenticeship to a European master clock and watchmaker through high school graduation, freshmen year of
college and remainder of the 1970s, I sensitively restored clocks of all
types; opening service and sales showrooms in the western suburbs of
Chicago. After a 35 year "sabbatical" pursuing an appraisal career, I've
returned to the venerable trade. Wide rectangular bezel with rounded corners machined of solid brass with mirror polished nickel finish. Heavy case supported on easel cast with decorative ends. Thick beveled crystal, matte silvered dial signed in script by the prestigious merchant, bold applied Deco font numbers encircling the chapter ring engraved with minute indices. Nickeled brass moon hands - easily read from across the room. High-grade eight-day Swiss movement with 15-jewel lever escapement and two adjustments. NOTE: The movement was completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and
rinsed in waterless solutions, checked for wear,
pivots polished, two bushings installed, hand set / tension elements rebuilt, reassembled and lubricated with premier quality Swiss oils. The mainspring was
removed from the barrel, cleaned and greased. Hands,
dial, crystal and the case were cleaned and polished. Professional restoration should provide reliable operation for years. Labor cost for overhaul of comparable clocks averages $425.
7 3/8" high, 9 5/8" wide, 4.0" deep (strut fully extended) 4 lbs., 11 ozs. Kindly
review descriptive information and study the photographs for details. I'm available to answer any questions / concerns. Doug Tomsky NAWCC #27572 CONSCIENTIOUSLY PACKED & SHIPPED WORLDWIDE
