This is a 1930s Leighton Pottery Child's nursery bowl, Designed by Renee Pemberton, part of the Gnomes Playtime series. This is in the style of Mabel Lucie Atwell, Who, with her boo boos made elves and gnomes very popular. The bowl is from the Art Deco period 1920’s - 1930’s. The pattern No is 5255. The bowl is pale cream and the photographs show the true colour. The bowl has a gnome/ fairy trying to tickle a butterfly.
The colours used are so typical of the period they loved orange.
The bowl is in good sound condition having no chips cracks or repairs, but it does have some wear to the three decorations on the inside rim. The glaze is also crazed commensurate for age.
This bowl is the actual one pictured on page 46 in the book “Gifts For Good Children” Part 11.
