Produced between 1954 and 1960 or so this Viking Scroll Bowl would make a wonderful Silver Anniversary Gift for those glass lovers, and other folks as well, born in the 1950s.
It has a Mid Century Modern look to it, very sleek and streamlined.
Viking called this line 1900 and the specific piece is 1970; they list it as a 6 1/2" bowl. The decoration was done by Silver City.
Silver City bought glass from a variety of makers and then decorated the glass in a their designs in Silver Overlay. This particular decoration is a gathering of poppies and is called Flanders. It alludes to, I believe, the WWI poem titled In Flanders Field - In Flanders fields the poppies blow.
The decoration can be found on both sides of the bowl. A single blossom is on one side the other contains a spray of Poppies.
It is in excellent condition with no damage and no wear. I find no scratching.
It stands 3" tall and measures 6 3/8 x 4 3/4 across the top.
