UNUSUAL ANTIQUE Solid Silver VESTA CASE 1904 Hallmarked Sterling Chester NR STUNNING & UNUSUAL DESIGN - Chester - 1 1/2 troy oz
This is an ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver vesta case or match stick case in a stunning and unusual design which was hallmarked in Chester, England in 1904. It is has plain sides and is engraved with DJM to the lid. It measures 2 1/8" wide by 1 5/8" deep and is 1/2" deep. It is very substantial, weighing 44.3 grams - almost 1 1/2 troy oz.
It has the usual light surface scratching and with almost NO dings and NO dents - SUPERB. The hinge is still firm and shuts well with no spring. It is hallmarked on the side with a rubbed makers mark, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), three sheaves, D showing that it was hallmarked in Chester in 1904. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A rare ANTIQUE vesta case in an unusual design after almost 110 years!!!!!!
