Item: Antique Victorian 1861 Silver Desert Jug William Hunter. If you have an eye for Top Quality Silver Antiques this would be one for the collection. A desert Cream Jug made by prolific Silversmith maker of the time William Hunter of London. This is not a cream jug for tea or coffee it would be for pouring cream over afternoon desert as it is of the larger variety jug weighs in at a wonderful 209 gms. As you can see from the photos super high quality hand applied decoration this would have taken many man hours to achieve as it is Not embossed. Wonderful double scrolled handle, fanned spout leading onto a huge pear drop bowl. The piece stand upon a large pedestal foot, the jugs entirety is completed decorated. Hallmarks are to be found to the base crisp and clear. There are NO monogram’s or crests. Still retains some of it’s original gold gilt inside. Becoming hard to find items of this size and with such quality oozing the Victorian style. Item similar to this sell in London Silver retail outlet between £ 375-£500. Condition: The bowl has some tiny dings to the underside which cannot be seen when displayed as it is towards the bottom of the pear drop bowl, Could easily be pushed out and well worth having done. Surface marks consistent with age and genuine use. Top quality Victorian Desert Creamer.
