POOLE Pottery low posy bowl - shape 220 - floral design signed BF and R
Here we have a sweet little bowl made by Poole Pottery in the traditional design.
This is in white clay, with a salmon pink interior glaze and hand-painted posies on a white background and bearing a Poole backstamp. It is signed but I'm afraid I don't know to whom "BF" or "R" refer, but their marks can be clearly seen on the base, along with an incised number 220. This is an early piece of Poole, marking the transition from Carter, Stabler & Adams of Poole, to "Poole".
There is no damage to this piece, the glaze has some long craze lines, which are typical of pieces of this type and age. There is a thin mark, like a pencil mark, near the top, this is under the glaze and is part of the making process. Each of these pieces were individually made and painted, that is their appeal.
I have several pieces I need to shift on, a change in my own circumstances means I am seriously downsizing. I want someone to love these pieces, so here's your chance.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Happy bidding!
