Lovely little antique box
We believe it to be glass rather than porcelain
Type typical of German or Bohemian 19th century white glass?
Hand enamelled floral scene to top and sides
Given size of box and style we believe it may have been a patch box???
If it is a patch box then it is early 19th century - Price reflects doubt as to what box is
Looking at our various reference books style and shape more reminiscent of European than British boxes
Lovely metal beaded rim to lid - hinge still strong and very nice tight fit between lid and main body
Measures just over 2 ins or 5.5cm wide and is approx 1.25 ins or 3cm in height
No makers marks which is not unusual
In very good condition other than the tiniest of chips to just one part of edge of lid but barely seen as its next to metal surround, also there is a faint hair-line crack to base but its still completely intact - really for an item of this age its still very good
Lovely little box and nice addition to someone's enamel collection
Cost to Europe of shipping £6
