Post WWII, ERII period tunic attributed to air Vice Marshall C M Gibbs OBE, DFC. Complete with staybright buttons to front and rank lace to cuffs. Queens crown pilots wings to breast and medal ribbons for OBE, DFC, 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star with rosette, Italy Star, Defence Medal. War Medal with MID oak leaf and New Zealand service medal. Inside of tunic has Gibbs owners label to inside pocket and lists him as rank at the time of Group Captain. Peaked cap has bullion insignias with ERII cap badge, and two rows of bullion oak leaves to peak. Both items in good overall condition.
Air Vice Marshall C M Gibbs served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force from 1941. Hew was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross whilst serving with 267 Squadron. After the war he rose through the ranks and was awarded his OBE in 1961.
