This is highly decorative piece of early Edwardian Doulton stoneware.
It takes the form of a large vase in various shades of green, with almost a celadon look. The decoration is simple but stylish and perhaps shows how the decorative arts were moving from the art nouveau towards the art deco.
The piece is marked with the backstamp which was introduced by the Royal Warrant of Edward VII dating it to the era between 1902 and 1922.
It has the Bessie Newberry artists signature to the bottom base. She worked at Doulton up until 1923 and her work was highly regarded.
It measures some 12 inches in height with a diameter of 3.5 inches - making it a large piece. Condition is excellent with no chips or cracks, but it has signs of age and tiny marks on a close inspection.
The backstamp dates it to the Royal Doulton era and therefore very early Edwardian era c1900-1920.
Whilst I feel I have set a fair price for this piece, I am more than open to reasonable offers as I would love it them to find a nice new home.
