I am delighted to offer a very fine Mahogany longcase clock of London manufacture which is in wonderful condition.
The 12 inch by 16 1/2 arched brass dial is signed by the maker Robert Carless of Greenwich (London). The best quality 5 pillar movement has a strike silent facility in the arch and has a subsidary seconds dial. Both have been recently restored to a very high standard and the 8 day weight driven movement functions perfectly as well as the dial being very pleasing to the eye.It comes complete with its London strip pendulum and brass weights. The movement and dial are original to each other as well as being original to the case.
This clock is NOT a marriage and I offer a full money back guarrantee to this end.
The mahogany case is beautifully made and thankfully has not been restored or re French polished leaving the most wonderful patina and colour that restored clocks simply cannot attain. It has glazed sides to the hood in order to view the movement.Even the hood finials appear to be original and I have deliberately not polished them but this can be done for the buyer if so required.
This clock would date circa 1770.
There is little to critisise regarding the condition save the odd mark as can be expected on any piece of furniture of this great age. I am being deliberately picky on my description and I would put the clock in my home exactly as it is.
The clock is is 7 ft 8 inches to the top of the centre finial(which can easily be removed) and the maximum width is 18 1/2 inches wide and 9 1/2 inches deep.
Should the buy it now price be paid in full I will delivery and set up the clock free of charge in England,Wales and the Scottish Lowlands and provide a full 12 months guarrantee.
Should a lesser offer be accepted it will be considered a trade sale with shipping the responsibility of the buyer.
Alternative means of payment to pay pal are requested if at all possible
