Hello.
Up for sale are my four small cottages in France. I say 4 as they were initially separate dwellings but since becoming uninhabited the appearance is of one large bungalow rather than 4 small cottages.
My intention when buying them was to create two, 2 bedroom cottages, one to live in and the other to rent out as a small holiday home as the village of Moulins Engilbert sits nicely on the edge of the Morvan National Park and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The dream was to enjoy the type of rural lifestyle that is financially out of the question for me in the UK.
However, my circumstances have changed and although there has been some work carried out I have not been able to visit the property for over two years and it is unlikely I shall be able to in the near future. However, I am not financially able to have work carried out in my absence and have reluctantly decided to sell.
It is important that any interested party understand that: 1. The village is 400 miles from Calais and as there are no airports nearby it is quite a drive. This makes it more suitable for those who can spend time rather than short breaks.; 2. The cottages at present are uninhabitable (I have two caravans on the land which I have used as living accomodation whilst there; 3. The work required includes re-roofing and is a complete renovation; 4. Planning permission to renovate was applied for and granted but the time span granted has expired and formal permission would have to be granted again. This is a straightforward process and is only necessary as I wanted to build a new Dorma window (the first one has already been erected) above each front door (4 in total). Sewage connection (not connected) is outside the property in the lane and is an easy connection when required
The garden land attached to the cottages is a long narrow strip to the right of the cottages and opens out into a larger area at the top of the lane. The land is overgrown but would be ideal as a garden, veg plot, chicken coop etc. My intention was to build a pond at the wider end of the garden with a pathway all the way up from the cottages.
There is a builders suppliers on the other side of the village where supplies can be purchased and with time and commitment these cottages could become a lovely place to live.
