Presented here for consideration is a Carlton Ware Spiders Web Art Deco display dish. The hand painted Spiders Web Motif has been done on the very rich, sought after Rouge Royale back ground. This is my favourite of the hand-painted patterns. I just love the fat old spider hanging in his web just waiting to trap the butterfly or the bee that are feeding on the bluebells, just delightful. It has the black stamped Rouge Royale maker’s mark that was in use from late 1951 until circa 1961. Impressed into the underside is the shape number 1608/3.
This divine dish measures in at 21.5 cm (8.25”) across including the handle, it is 13.5 cm (5.4”) wide, and the handle is 4.5 cm (1.75”) tall.
