For auction is a rare Carlton Ware Art Deco stamp licker in the form of Humpty Dumpty. Standing approx. 5 inches high, this lovely item is a real novelty piece. The wall on which Humpty sits is, in fact a well which, when filled with water uses a capillary system which moistens the leather tongue.
When the orange hat is twisted, the tongue protrudes to enable the stamp to be moistened on the tongue before being attached to the envelope. The item is in excellent condition, having no chips, cracks or crazing & is in full working order. It has the original tassel not a replacement one, however this was reattached at some point which is not surprising, given it's age & the use it must have had!
Whilst the base is marked with the registration number 773753 and patent number 387061 on the original instruction label. This is rare to have the label so complete as water would drip down after the licker was filled from the back and the paper would disintegrate. The original ceramic topped Cork is present so this item is 100% original and complete.
This figure is not stamped Carlton Ware, but it was Carlton Ware that produced these figures back in the day. The small white specs on the orange cap are from manufacture and not chips. Please see the pictures as they form part of the description.
