The hood was either sewn directly to the collar of the jacket, or if you had the spare buttons, then these were sewn to the collar and the hood could then be added or removed as necessary. This pattern hood remained in use up until 1995 when replaced with a ripstop version, with wired storm snorkel, many old timers still prefer these thou ... as their lighter, both in weight and color, and dry fast, as well as fit into a small pocket.
