Cherry Blossom Bonsai Tree, Sakura Fower, Beautiful Pink, 10 Seeds
Instructions Information
Planting... Look for an area in the yard that has plenty of space for roots to grow and expand. Stratification takes two to three months and is an important factor to remember when preparing a seed for growth. The process breaks down the hard casing of the pit and allows it to sprout easily. The first step involves freezing the seed for six to eight weeks prior to planting. Bury the seed about a half-inch in the ground in early autumn. The cold winter weather helps to continue the stratification process, and then check for sprouting in early spring... Soil... The Japanese cherry blossom tree prefers a light, fertile, sandy soil that drains well. Compact soil mixtures can cause root rot and crown rot. The soil must be able to dry out completely after each watering, and the pH can range from 5.5 to 8.0, but 6.5 is ideal. If needed, a soil pH kit can help gardeners determine a suitable pH level... Sun... Flowering cherry trees fare well in full sun. However, those who live in dry climates should plant in a sunny area that receives late afternoon shade. Too much sun with inadequate water can result in sparse blooming or dwarfed growth. Those who live in dry climates should opt for a variety with a high drought resistance... Water... Gardeners should water Japanese Cherry Blossom trees thoroughly once a week in the summertime. The trees require less water in other seasons. Avoid over-watering the tree, and wait until the top few inches of soil are dry before providing additional water... Fertilizer... The fertile soil in which cherry blossom trees grow provides most of the needed nutrients. Apply a thin layer of compost to the soil surrounding the tree once a year in the fall. A 10-10-10 fertilizer administered every month during spring and summer provides a nutrient boost...
