SCARCE ORNATE PORCELAIN VICTORIAN CIGARETTE BOX

Presenting an superb antique porcelain cigarette box designed to hold 100 of "The Balkan Sobranie Cigarettes" which were "made of the finest Yenidje Tobacco". This porcelain cigarette box is beautifully decorated with finely detailed black and white transferware illustrations adorning the lid and sides. Exotic scenes featuring a man and woman clothed in elaborate traditional costumes set in a majestic locations adorn the longer sides of the box and lid. The narrower sides feature the contents number "100" upon an illustration of the elusive Yenidje tobacco plant. SIZE: This impressive piece stands approx 65mms tall, measures 153mms in length and 105mms in width. WEIGHT: This piece weighs 590 grams. CONDITION: This piece is presented in as found antique condition with three large chips to the lid and minor nibbles to one outer edge of the box. A good portion of the original paper label to the underside of the lid remains in place as indicated in the images. The graphics remains lovely and vibrant. This piece still displays exceptionally well and is more than worthy of a professional repair. The images are of the actual item offered for sale and provide an accurate indication of condition.
