It is also of lovely petite proportions. The movement is stunningly clean and is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced.
If we start with the hood, this has swan necks which have lovely brass pateras. The hood is flanked by superb turned columns which terminate in brass capitals and has pretty shaped back splats. The hood door is mahogany veneered and has a very pretty frilled edge which sets it of beautifully.
Moving down to the trunk, there is a lovely door which is beautifully inlaid with ebony stringing. The door is flanked by chamfered sides which have lovely mahogany veneer.
The base is inlaid with ebony stringing and is raised on shaped bracket feet.
The eight-day movement with maker’s name of ' Benjn Joseph, Swansea' strikes the hour on a bell and has an arched painted face, subsidiary second dial and date aperture. The four corners are adorned with very pretty paintings of flowers. The arch is also magnificent with a superb painting of a young lady with her dog out in the country cutting corn.
