She holds a tray in her hands on which is placed a bottle of rum and three full glasses. The background is composed of three colors Red Blue and Yellow. In 1857, Paul Bardinet, an alcohol producer from Limoges, decided to invent a new alcohol by distilling tafia, from the juice of sugar cane from which Negrita rum was born.The “La Negrita” rum, titrated at 40°, was registered by Paul Bardinet in Limoges in 1886. A few years later, the brand became simply “Negrita”. The image of the brand, represented by a West Indian woman is, according to Bacholet, the oldest character in French advertising.
